Lodges And Camps In AMBOSELI National Park

Situated on the southern side of Kenya, near the Tanzanian border, Amboseli is a very popular tourist destination. The region’s great drawing card is the Amboseli National Park, a reserve that not only boasts a spectacular variety of wildlife, but also Kilimanjaro, the highest mountain in Africa at 5,985m (19,340 ft). The park alone has five distinct habitats, each of which supports a very different ecosystem. The area offers a choice of various lodges, each of which makes the most of its splendid surroundings.

Amboseli Sentrim

Sentrim Amboseli’s location deep inside the reserve guarantees close encounters with the park’s renowned elephants. Also happily roaming the grasslands are buffallos, wildebeast, zebra, giraffes, impalas and several predators. Located 280 kilometers south of Nairobi and 260 kilometers north of Mombasa. During the wet season, the rains flood the lake bed and the surrounding area.

Though, this plentiful water does not sustain a rich vegetal variety. The cause is the high salt deposits in the lake bed, which the flood dilute and disperse hindering plant growth. For this reason few trees grow in the park, only small patches of acacia and some palm trees far off the lake. Contrariwise, salt-rich pastures grow and are very appreciated by the herbivores. Despite the first impression of a dusty and arid land, actually Amboseli is overflowing with water all the year round, but under the ground.

Kilima Safari Camp

Kilima safari camp is located in the area of Amboseli National Park, next to the Kimana Gate Park entrance. The camp is set out on a 360 acre site with spectacular view of Mount Kilimanjaro.

The Kimana area of Amboseli is famous for it’s large elephant population. Clients can enjoy great game viewing from their tents which face the animal water pools and all public areas and guest rooms are set towards Mount Kilimanjaro.

Tortillis Safari Camp

Tortillis camp Amboseli is located on the edge of Amboseli National Park, one of Africa’s loveliest national parks. The park not only offers majestic views of Mt Kilimanjaro but it’s also abundant in wildlife including elephants, zebra, wildebeest, giraffe, impala and leopards.

The camp has 7 tents under thatch on wooden platforms – 7 with twin beds, 10 with king – sized beds. Comfortable open palm bar, lounge and dining room under thatch. Swimming pool, pool bar, restaurant and a gift shop with Guided nature walks.

Ol Tukai Lodge

Ol Tukai Lodge is one of the best spots in the world to watch elephant with the backdrop of Africa’s highest mountain, Mount Kilimanjaro. Writers have described Ol Tukai and the surrounding Amboseli National Park ‘as a home for the Gods’.

A place of rugged beauty, abundant water, lush grass and forest, set like an oasis in surrounding savannah scrub. To crown it all, the Gods look upon one of the worlds most awe-inspiring sites – as dawn breaks and the sun sets from the 19,000 foot snow capped dome of Africa’s highest mountain. View More...
